Organizers in Lufkin prepare for first father-daughter dance

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Dads and daughters get ready for a night dedicated to you. Sorry mom's you're not allowed.

Friday organizers were preparing for the first ever Father Daughter dance. The event is put on by the City of Lufkin.

It'll take place at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin. There will be food, music, and of course a priceless new memory.

Organizers hope that this event creates a stronger bond between father and daughters throughout East Texas.

"It’s an event that I’m sure a lot of people will take advantage of by taking these young ladies out to eat or maybe to a movie before they come out here,” Matthew Hubert, Lufkin Parks and recreation Assistant director said.

The event kicks off Saturday evening at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

Organizers said the dress code is semi casual.
