TRINITY, TX (KTRE) - Trinity police have arrested a sex offender accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl last August.
William Christopher Corbin, 44, is charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Trinity Police Chief Steven Jones said they began investigating after the girl reported the assault to a school counselor.
Jones said the girl said it happened last August, but she just recently made the outcry. He said CPS and police then began investigating and interviewed Corbin. They obtained a warrant for his arrest on Sunday and arrested him the same day.
He is being held on a $200,000 bail.
Corbin is a lifetime registered sex offender. He was convicted in 2001 of sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 14-year-old girl.
"A handful of people may know who she is," Jones said. "They should be responsible with it and not talk about it. And I just want everyone to know if they see something they think may be suspicious, they can report it to law enforcement or Kailin's Center or any other agency like that."
