SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Earlier this week deputies with the Sabine County Sheriff's Office arrested a 36-year-old Brookland man after he allegedly got into a fight with a group of juveniles and assaulted two teenage boys, ages 15 and 14 back in April of 2015.
Thomas Lewis Hadnot is still being held in the Jasper County Jail. He was charged with injury to a child causing bodily injury and assault causing bodily injury.
According to the arrest affidavit, a Sabine County Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched out to the 1500 block of Loop 149 in Brookland in response to a report of a fight in progress. Witnesses at the scene told the deputy that a man had struck two teenage boys.
Five juveniles, including four girls and another boy, saw the fight and told the deputy that they knew the man by the name of Thomas. All seven teens gave statements, according to the affidavit.
The witnesses told the deputy that the man, who was later identified as Hadnot, was riding a four-wheeler, revving its engine, and spinning out. The 15-year-old and 14-year-old boys approached Hadnot had had words with him, the affidavit stated.
According to the affidavit, Hadnot got angry, pushed the 14-year-old boy, and punched him in the face, causing a cut over his eyebrow. He also allegedly pushed the 15-year-old boy and threw him to the grounds by his hair.
Hadnot also held the 15-year-old down and hit him in the body and face, the affidavit stated.
The 15-year-old was taken to a hospital to be treated after he complained of numbness in his left hand and neck, the affidavit stated.
At that point, Hadnot allegedly left the scene on the four-wheeler.
