LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man set to serve a year of federal prison for intentionally driving a million-dollar car into a Galveston County lagoon now faces up to life in prison on a new Angelina County grand jury indictment.

Angelina County court records show a grand jury indicted Andy Lee House, 41, on first-degree charges of theft more than $200,000 and misapplication of fiduciary funds more than $200,000.

Smith County Jail records show House was booked in that jail on Friday.

House drove a 2006 Bugatti Veyron, which was insured for $2.2 million, into the Gulf Bay near La Marque and left the motor running, causing the engine to take on large amounts of saltwater, destroying the vehicle.

House pleaded guilty to purposefully driving his vehicle into the lagoon in order to collect the insurance in April 2014.

A federal judge sentenced House to a year and a day in prison in December 2015. He is scheduled to begin that sentence on March 1.

It appears the new charges may not be related to the federal charges, as court records show the offense date for the state charges are March 14, 2014.
