JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A traffic stop by Jasper County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigators and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper on Tuesday resulted in a felony drug arrest and the seizure of a "large amount" of marijuana.
Joseph Marks, 55, was arrested and charged with manufacture and/or delivery of marijuana between four ounces and five pounds. His bail amount was set at $5,000.
According to a press release, the two narcotics investigators and the DPS trooper initiated the traffic stop based on information the DPS trooper received. The traffic stop was on State Highway 62 in Buna.
After the officers made contact with Marks, the driver, they got permission to search his vehicle and found a "large amount" of marijuana hidden within a "void" under the back passenger seat. Marks was arrested at the scene and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said in the press release that he and his deputies will continue with their efforts to rid the county of its drug problems.
