NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 20-year-old woman early Sunday morning after they took her into custody for mental health treatment and she allegedly resisted being transported, assaulted police officers, and spat on one officer.

Alexis Michele Lawrence, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a third-degree felony assault of a public servant charge, a third-degree felony harassment of a public servant charge, and a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest, search, or transport charge. No bail amounts have been set for her charges at this time.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department’s daily activity report, NPD officers went to an apartment in the 1300 block of Pearl Street between 6 and 8 a.m. to do a welfare check on Lawrence. When the officers determined that she needed mental health treatment, they took her into custody.

The report stated that during the incident, Lawrence assaulted NPD officers, used physical force in an effort to prevent them from transporting her, and spat on one of the officers.
