ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Firefighters from the Central Volunteer Fire Department, the Hudson VFD, and the Texas A&M Forest Service joined forces to battle a controlled burn that got out of control on FM 706 Thursday afternoon.
Chief Jason Thacker with the Central VFD said the owner of a piece of property in the 200 block of FM 706 was conducting a controlled burn when it got out of control and spread to a nearby wooded area and a railroad siding, where it caught several train cars on fire.
Thacker said Central VFD firefighters showed up at the scene at 1:06 p.m. Thursday. Shortly after that, they called out the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department at the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The fire is now under control, Thacker said. He added that there was minimal damage to the train cars that caught on fire.
