CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - A Crockett woman is going to jail for six months after pleading guilty to leaving her nephew home alone.

Robvia Simpson, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of abandoning a child on Wednesday.

Simpson was arrested in February 2014 when Crockett police met with a housing authority security officer, who said a three-year-old boy had been inside a home on Lewis Circle asleep with nobody else there.

A CPS investigator arrived later and told police they had recently put the boy in the custody of Simpson.

Forty minutes after the Crockett PD officers arrived on the scene, Simpson returned home. She was detained and placed in a patrol vehicle. When one of the officers asked her where she had been, she explained that she had given her cousin a ride and had only been gone about an hour.

While Simpson was speaking to the CPS investigator on the scene, she said that she had left around 7:30 a.m. She also said that her 12-year-old was at home with the 3-year-old, but he had left for school.
