POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were involved in another short standoff with an armed man in the Putnam’s Landing subdivision early Tuesday morning.

Darrell Ray Walker, 45, of Livingston, is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a resisting arrest, search, or transport charge. No bail amount has been set at this time.

According to a press release, PCSO deputies responded to a 911 call about an intoxicated man with a pistol. Reports indicated that the man, who was later identified as Walker, had threatened to harm himself with the gun, and had fired it inside his home.

When the deputies arrived on the scene, they made contact with Walker by telephone. He told the PCSO deputies not to enter his home and said that he wouldn’t come out.

The first deputies on the scene stayed behind cover and called for backup.

A short time later, Walker walked out of the house, and when the PCSO deputies tried to take him into custody, he start to run back to the residence, and the deputies deployed Tasers to stop him.

Walker was arrested without any further incident and taken to the Polk County Jail.

“While in the Polk County Jail’s custody, Walker will be subject to a mental health assessment where he can receive assistance if needed,” the press release stated.
