SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office arrested a 35-year-old woman Friday night after she allegedly ran over or struck a man twice with a car.
Jameshka Michelle Amburn, of San Augustine, is still being held in the San Augustine County Jail on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Her bail amount has been set at $250,000.
Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred at about 10:28 p.m. Friday.
Cunningham said they don't know what led to the assault and added that Amburn isn't telling authorities anything at this point because she he has invoked her right to legal counsel.
Amburn allegedly chased the man through her and her neighbor's yards before she ran over or struck him twice.
Initially, the alleged victim appeared to be seriously hurt, and he was air lifted to a Nacogdoches hospital for treatment. He was later released after it was determined that his injuries were not life threatening, Cunningham said.
"It's early in the investigation, but we do know certain things that happened, and the victim was repeatedly assaulted by Amburn with a motor vehicle," Cunningham said. "Those facts are clear."
Cunningham said the victim is expected to come to the sheriff's office Wednesday to give a statement about what happened. The victim is cooperating with law enforcement, and the incident is still under investigation.
