NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

KTRE's cutest couple winners are sharing their secret to a successful marriage.

“It’s a lot of give and take in marriage,” Alice Y’Barbo, cutest couple winner said. “You can’t be selfish.”

Alice and Hubert Y’Barbo have been living in wedded bliss for the past 62 years, and are living proof that opposites do attract.

“We definitely are opposites because I love to get out with people and do things, and he’s more or less a homebody.”

The couple connected in San Antonio when they both were in the air force.

However they didn’t just stumble upon each other. The couple was set up by Hubert’s brother in law, and when they met, it was like magic.

“It was just kind of there at first I guess,” Alice said. “It’s nothing special, you just know that you’re suited for each other.”

Being set up seems to be a trend for this couple. They didn’t know they were nominated for this year’s cutest couple contest.

“My husband was watching TV and came across the news Saturday night,” Alice said. “We were kind of surprised.”

Not only were they nominated but they won the title of East Texas cutest couple. That’s all thanks to their kids.

“We were really happy to think that they would go through all the trouble of doing it for us,” Alice said. “They like to do things like that. They knew I would enjoy it, but they knew he would be kind of upset.”

Now 3 kids, 7 grandkids and 1 great grandkid later, this couple is still persevering. They said their favorite time of year is whenever they can be surround by family.

“Our special day is Christmas and Thanksgiving, when the family all get together,” Alice said.

The couple will celebrate 63 years of marriage in March.
