LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Adventurous, playful, and extremely affectionate are only ways to describe Georgia.
"She's a retriever mix we believe," said Winnie Berry Humane Society Executive Director Mike Stephens. "She's very sweet and a little shy."
Georgia is currently being sheltered at Winnie Berry, but is up for adoption.
"She was apparently lost and we ran her online for a while, trying to find her owner," Stephens said. "She's not micro chipped, which is something we suggest all dog owner do. No one has ever come to claim her."
After being at the Winnie Berry Shelter for a week, this shy, gentle beauty is slowly coming out of her shell.
"So once she gets comfortable with her surroundings, she likes to play."
Georgia is one-year-old so she's still considered a puppy, but Stephens said she won't grow much larger. He also said due to her sweet personality and very calm nature makes her perfect for a family with small children.
Georgia's adoption fee is $80, which covers her shots and spaying fees.
This gentle, loving girl is waiting to become a part of a family.
"Someone's just got to be patient with her for a little bit and I think she's really going to come out of her shell and be a really sweet dog for someone," Stephens said.
The Winnie Berry staff asks those interested in Georgia should come to the shelter and meet her in person. If the potential has any other dogs, they are encouraged to bring them as well so Georgia can meet and get used to them.
