NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A visiting judge declared a mistrial Monday morning in the case of a Garrison man who is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl 20 years ago.
“A juror knew one of the witnesses too well but didn’t realize it beforehand,” said Andrew Jones, a spokesman for the Nacogdoches County District Attorney’s Office.

Visiting judge Guy Griffin declared a mistrial in the case before the jury trial in his 145th Judicial District courtroom started Monday morning.

Horace Kent Rambin was arrested in January of 2014. The investigation started earlier that month when a woman told authorities that Rambin had sexually assaulted her when she was 12.

The woman gave a detailed account of how Rambin forced her to have sex with him.
