LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin community has been honking to show support for a sign asking citizens to pray for law enforcement.

It's set up near the intersection of Chestnut and Timberland Street. A business owner said they have a group prayer every morning and pray for those who protect them.

The sign encourages citizens to do the same reading, "It's our duty. It's our responsibility." The business said they're very proud to show their support.

"With everything that's been going on, we feel it's our duty to pray for the people whose duty it is to protect us. We take a lot of pride in that. We love our police officers, first responders, and we just appreciate everything they've done for us!" said Andrea Phillips, an Office Manager.

The Diboll Police Department shared a post from a Lufkin supporter. It's gotten shared hundreds of times here in the Pineywoods.
The post said they didn't know who made the sign, but they should know it doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.
