JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 20-year-old Buna man has been indicted in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a mentally disabled woman on Jan. 7.
The Jasper County grand jury indicted David Ray Kirkindoll Jr. on a first-degree felony sexual assault or an elderly or mentally disabled person.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a JCSO deputy was notified about the alleged sexual assault on Jan. 8. The alleged sexual assault occurred at a residence in the 35,000 block of State Highway 96 in Buna.
A Jasper County Sheriff's Office lieutenant told the woman's father to take her to have a SANE exam conducted.
When the JCSO investigator who took over the case met with the alleged victim's parents at the Evadale sub courthouse. The parents provided the investigator with court documentation that they are the alleged victim's legal guardians because of her mental disorder.
The alleged victim was able to recall the assault and provide the investigator with some important details, the affidavit stated. As a result, based on that and the results of the SANE exam, the investigator got an arrest warrant for Kirkindoll.
