LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin Association of Realtors gave a generous donation to the Winnie Berry Humane Society.

On Monday afternoon, members of the association stopped by the no-kill shelter and dropped off several car loads of dog food and pet supplies. Board member Don Richards also presented a check of $3,200 to the staff.

"We are very fortunate to work in a city like Lufkin," Richards said. "We all make our livings here so to be able to share with such a great organization such as Winnie Berry and her crowd is just awesome."

Richards recently lost his wife, who was a big supporter of the humane society. The association came together and worked to raise the donations for the shelter.

"We love Kay and we love Don and we just wanted to come together and do something special for the family," Association President Amy Mitchell said.
