From Nacogdoches ISD
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS (News Release) - #NacReads is an on-going community campaign to promote reading and literacy across the city and Nacogdoches County. The campaign focuses on sharing the love and art of literacy in our community.
#NacReads encourages all Nacogdoches residents to share their favorite titles, books, genres and topics relating to literature on social media.
The 2016 campaign honors Christy Wilson, a long time Nacogdoches educator and librarian who has committed her life to the love of reading.
"I strive to create lifelong readers one child at a time," said Wilson.
Participation in the campaign is free, fun, and flexible. To participate, take a picture of family, friends, kids, or organizations reading. Upload photos to social media and tag them with #nacreads. The campaign is currently utilizing the following social media platforms; Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. Individuals, or organizations, interested in participating in #NacReads should contact the Nacogdoches Public Library or Leisha Bryant with Nacogdoches ISD.
History of Campaign: #NacReads began after a small group of citizens met in spring 2015 to discuss an idea to promote reading and creating a culture of literacy in Nacogdoches. The group has now grown to include more than 19 community partners who understand the impact and importance of literacy in our community and who wish to encourage a lifelong love of books.
