ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The race from for Angelina County Tax Assessor-Collector has been narrowed down to two candidates.

Former tax assessor co-workers Lisha Hammock and Billie Page will be going head-to-head in a run-off in May.

They said they are excited to be in the run-off and while they both hope to win, they're going to keep the run-off civil and positive, as both women are friends.

"I'm nervous but I am excited as well,” Hammock said. “She is a great person and I think we are both going to be out there campaigning."

"Well we were in contact some yesterday and asked each other if we were having fun yet, so it's going to be fine,” said Page. “I have a lot of respect for her and I love her and I think she feels the same way about me. If she does win, I'm going to support her every way I can."

The Democratic challenger Bryce Alger has been disqualified, so whoever wins the runoff will be the Tax Assessor-Elect.
