LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office will be getting 5 new vehicles which will enable every deputy to have their own vehicle.
At Tuesday's Angelina County Commissioners meeting, Sheriff Greg Sanches told commissioners that right now several vehicles are shared between deputies meaning that vehicles are sometimes running the majority of a full day.
The commissioners agreed to allow for the department to add five new vehicles along with an additional six vehicles that will be replaced during the next budget year.
"It cuts down on the amount of hours a week a car runs,"Lt. Stacy Seymore said. "It gives that vehicle some downtime and it makes each deputy responsible for that vehicle."
Seymore said vehicles will now be able to last for up to seven years where now they need to be replaced every three to four years.
