Red Cross to open service center in Karnack, close shelters

EAST TEXAS - The Red Cross storm response efforts continue in East Texas with a concentration of activity in Gregg, Rusk and Harrison Counties.


On Thursday, March 17, the Red Cross will open a Service Center at the T.J. Taylor Center located at 15593 FM 134, in Karnack.  The Service Center will be open from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday, March 17 – Saturday, March 19.  The Red Cross will also be available for Kilgore residents this evening, March 15, starting at 5:30 at the Meadowbrook Golf and Community Center, 1306 Houston Street, Kilgore. Anyone who has damage to their home due to the storms, who has not already contacted the Red Cross, is still urged to do so at 1-866-505-4801.


The shelter at First Baptist Church, 405 W. Austin, Marshall, 75670, remains open and will remain open until 10 am, on Thursday, March 17.


Bulk distribution of clean up supplies needed by East Texans impacted by area storms are being distributed in neighborhoods.

Supplies include Red Cross clean up kits: mops, buckets, gloves, trash bags and bleach. Water and snacks. 


The Dream Center, 803 Gilmer Road, Longview, is accepting and distributing in-kind items for flood victims.  Anyone wishing to donate food, water, clothing, household items, etc. can take them there.  There is a need for fans and plastic tubs.
