If people can’t come to the art, the art must come to the people. At least that’s the motto of one East Texas woman.

Le’Ann Alexander of Lufkin, an art teacher at Angelina College, brings art to the community. She calls it, The Alexander Art Space. It's a non-profit mobile art gallery dedicated to educating East Texans on artists in the surrounding area.

Alexander said she came up with the idea after realizing that Lufkin had limited art venues.

“It’s been really fun, and rewarding,” Alexander said. “I like to show other people’s work, not just my own. I’m use to showing my own work and talking about it, but now I get to give that experience to students and other artist.”

If you want to catch the mobile art, Alexander will be showcasing art work Thursday night at the Bella Salons Fashion Show at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center from 6p.m. to 9 p.m.

Standard admission for the art show is $20 and $30 for VIP entry. Proceeds from the event benefit the Gulf Restoration Network. For more information on the event you can call (936) 634-2004.

Although you have you have to pay to enter the fashion show, the mobile art gallery walk-through is free.

To keep up with the art mobile you can visit Alexander Art Space Facebook page.
