Fredonia Hotel Celebrates 50 Years

A significant anniversary is about to be celebrated in Nacogdoches. One of the city's landmarks, the 'Fredonia Hotel,' is turning 50 years old.

The hotel reflects civic pride. Citizens raised the money to build the hotel that has attracted visitors from all over through the years.

Friday night a reception and dance will be held. On Saturday the entire community is invited for free food and entertainment. General Manager Jim Boiles said, "We'll have a barbecue dinner. We'll have some bands located across the street from the hotel and an open house and we'll be giving guided tours of the hotel."

Some of the original stockholders and employees are in town attending the celebrations. Throughout the year the hotel will undergo major renovations.
