NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County Commissioners will soon be adding the phrase, "In God we trust" to their meeting room.
Commissioner Jerry Stone introduced the idea of placing the sign behind the court, but in clear view of the audience. County Judge Mike Perry was the lone opposing vote.
On another issue, Perry and Commissioner Jerry Don Williamson voted against having court meetings video and audio recorded. The measure passed with a three to two vote. Live and video recordings will be placed on the county's Website.
It's a concept many governments have adopted in anticipation of it becoming a state mandate.
Stone submitted the idea as he believes it fulfills his oath to serve and be accountable to the public. The equipment will cost $600.
