NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Family Crisis Center staff and board shared their excitement for starting construction on a new thrift store and resource center in Nacogdoches.

The work is underway in the 3900 block of North Street.

A Temple-Inland grant helped the agency afford the prime real estate.

Its executive director says the Crisis Center will own the property rather than lease, as it's doing now in Nacogdoches.

"The space will be similar as far as our thrift store is concerned, but our outreach office space is going to be much larger, so we're looking forward to expanding our direct services here in Nacogdoches," said Heather Kartye, the executive director of the Family Crisis Center.

The new facility is expected to be opened to the public in October.
