ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Fuller Springs VFD will soon be getting a new substation located on US Highway 69 south between Huntington and Lufkin.
"We have too many trucks for our current station," said Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Cranford. "The new substation will allow us to split up our trucks and have proper storage."
The department has been granted a grant that will pay for the actual building. The department will have to raise around $30,000 for the remainder of the cost for the land work.
"Because the site is pretty low we are going to have to do a lot of dirt work," Cranford said. "We have a long way to go to get it ready. We secured the grant for the building, but we still need to raise some money to get the ground work done."
The department is accepting donations. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 773, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
