LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Dozens of East Texans got a hand on experience with CHI Saint Luke's cutting edge technology, Da Vinci Xi at Wednesday night's business after five event.
Da Vinci Xi is the most advanced robotic surgery system between Tyler and Lufkin.
Event goers got to practice on a model machine and get to experience how it works.
"One thing you'll find out is how sensitive the robotic instruments really are when you put your hand on the instrumentation and start to use the tool," Shawn Barnett, President of the Lufkin facility said.
Currently more than 60% of the gynecological, urological and general surgeries at Memorial are now performed using one of the hospital's two robots.
