ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An 18-wheeler's high load slammed into the overpass at the intersection of US Highway 69 and State Highway 7 in Angelina County Thursday afternoon.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chris Nash, the 18-wheeler was traveling south on on Highway 69 when its load struck a bridge beam on the Highway 7 overpass, damaging it. No one was injured in the one-vehicle accident.
DPS responded to the accident at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Nash said the Highway 7 overpass is still passable.
Nash said he couldn't say whether the driver or the trucking company will be cited. However he did say there will be no criminal charges filed.
The truck's load was higher than the marked 15 foot, 3 inches clearance on the bridge, Nash said.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the southbound side of Highway 69 will be narrowed down to one lane of travel for several days until repairs can be made to the underside of the overpass.
