Lufkin School District Celebrates A Century

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Lufkin school district and renovation and construction of several campus facilities is now underway.

Superintendent David Sharp spoke about those projects Friday, along with several other recent accomplishments within the district helping to make Lufkin schools a success.

"I think people will be somewhat surprised to see some of the transitions and some of the things that have happened through the years and how we've progressed."

Sharp spoke as part of the First Friday luncheon.  Lufkin High School started out as a small building on the corner of Ellis and Raguet streets.
