LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A U-haul arrived in Deweyville Friday morning, and it was full of supplies to aid those in need during their disaster recovery. It was a joint effort between the students at Pineywoods Community Academy and the Lufkin Emergency Room.
The students brought canned-goods and other food items to school. The Lufkin ER packed up this morning and headed south to make the delivery.
The marketing director says she's proud Lufkin could make a difference for the families in Newton County.
"We had our crew deliver that to the families today, so it's really nice and refreshing to see one community get together to help another community," said Briana Harkness, Lufkin ER Director of Marketing.
The crew will be headed back today from Deweyville. They not only dropped off items, but also volunteered there last week.
