Report: Nacogdoches man collides with NPD patrol unit, gets arrested for DWI

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

An officer with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 24-year man on a driving while intoxicated charged after he allegedly collided with an NPD patrol unit Sunday evening.

German B. Padilla-Martinez, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a Class A Misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge, two Class A Misdemeanor bail jumping and failure to appear charges, and a Class B misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance charge. No bail amounts have set at this time.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department’s daily activity report, the incident happened in the 400 block of Powers Street at about 7:52 p.m. Sunday.

Sgt. Greg Sowell, a spokesman for the Nacogdoches Police Department said that an NPD officer was headed east on Powers Street when Padilla-Martinez turned off of Pearl Street onto Powers Street. Padilla-Martinez came into the oncoming lane, and his mirror collided with the patrol unit’s mirror.

When the NPD made contact with Padilla-Martinez, the man was found to be in possession of marijuana, the report stated. Padilla-Martinez was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
