A familiar face is returning to Houston County.

Former Houston County pct.1 Commissioner Roger Dickey has been named the new emergency management coordinator and fire marshal for the county. The decision was announced following a special meeting that was called by Judge Erin Ford.

Dickey is replacing David Lamb at the two positionns after Lamb retired in Feb. Ford said all the commissioners approved of the hire, except for Pat Perry who was sick and was unable to vote.

Dickey resigned from being a commissioner on March 17. He was immediately replaced by Gary Lovell, who beat Dickey in the March Primary.

"He had to resign to be considered for the job," Ford said. "Right now he is going through the process of being rehired by the county. We hope he is able to start the job tomorrow."

Since Lamb's retirement, Ford has been acting as interim for the position. Ford said Dickey is more than qualified for the positio pointing out he is a licensed peace officer as well as certified in fire investigation.
