NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Each year, the Texas Department of Transportation announces the selected "unsafe bridges" the agency will replace under the federal bridge replacement program.

"Y’all don't have anything that is eligible for the federal bridge replacement program because y’all are taking good care of what you got,” said Nancy Smith, TxDOT’s district bridge engineer.  So, that's a good thing."

Smith added that some East Texas bridges will get replacement. Those include bridges in Shelby, San Augustine, and Sabine counties.

Currently, a different funding program is paying for the replacement of two bridges on Highway 95 in Nacogdoches County.
