NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Technical Training Center started conducting monthly job fairs Friday afternoon. Organizers say this event is exactly how the facility was meant to be used.

The offer is appreciated by both employers and job seekers.

As many as eight employers welcomed the opportunity to interview numerous applicants. Chances are JBS' Pilgrim's Pride will return each first Friday of the month. Today's need will change.

"The jobs we are trying to hire for are one specific department, but next month we might have openings in other departments that somebody might be interested in or in different areas, so it's constantly changing,” said Moriah Penick, a JBS trainee.

To that point, one industry may need help this month, but next month a totally different job sector could be hiring.

"The job market is interesting and dynamic,” said Bob Coker, the technical center’s director. “It does not move all at the same time. In my mind, there are always jobs to be had. It just depends on the sector that's active at that time."

Carolyn Thomas is in the midst of a career change. She welcomes the opportunity to see what's out there.

"Well I think they're going to be very helpful. During the upcoming week I had been looking for jobs here and there and then I heard about the job fair,” Thomas said. “I thought they were going to have one job, but they have over five or six."

The choices presented on a monthly basis are intended to motivate job seekers to stay with the hunt. They employers and job seekers are also setting a real life example to college and high school students in the building that entering the workforce takes perseverance.

The job fairs will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. The Training Technical Center is located at 6003 North Street.
