LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - For over 30 years, KSWP and KAVX radio have counted on community donations to keep their music on the air.
The Christian radio stations host two yearly Shareathon events that will go to keep the station running. The event is run by volunteers from Texas and Louisiana.
"The radio station exist because of the public," said Susan Robertson. "Community members own the radio station, and every time they take part, they are changing someone's life. God works through their gifts. The radio station offers hope, love, and forgiveness, and that's what you find when you tune into the radio."
The goal for this shareathon is to get the listeners to pledge $10,410 a month. As of 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the group had 5,598,367 pledge for every month.
