LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A two-vehicle wreck on Frank Street in Lufkin injured five people Monday morning.
According to Jessica Pebsworth, a spokeswoman for the Lufkin Police Department, it was a weather-related accident. She said Alma Chavez, 25, of Lufkin, was traveling east on Frank Avenue in a Ford pickup when she lost control and collided head on with a Ford Escape drive by Glenda Smith, 51, of Lufkin.
Chavez' three children, Carlos Medina, 8, Karina Medina, 7, and Palmira Medina, 5, were with her at the time of the wreck.
Everyone involved in the accident was taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial in Lufkin for treatment of unknown injuries. Karina Medina ws later transferred to a Houston hospital for treatment, Her condition is unknown at this time.
Pebsworth said Chavez will be cited to for driving without a license and failure to control speed.
