The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is looking to get a grant from the Department of Homeland Security that would pay for a new communication system that could be used in crisis situations.
Investigator Brett Maisel told commissioners the equipment would be able to improve communication between all parties involved. Maisel also said the equipment would be used by all law enforcement in Angelina County.
"It will allow us to talk between the crisis negotiator and the tactical elements involved, but it will also improves our communication with the people in crisis," Maisel said.
Maisel said it could be several months before they learn if the grant money is approved.
