LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An Angelina County grand jury has indicted a Lufkin hearing center owner accused of charging Medicaid for services that were not performed by properly licensed personnel.

Richard Charles Geraci, 50, of Lufkin, has been booked in and out of the Angelina County Jail on two counts of state-jail felony Medicaid fraud. He posted a $50,000 bond.

Geraci is the owner of Audibel, which has locations in Lufkin, Nacogdoches and Jasper. According to the business website, Geraci is certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) and audioprosthology (ACA).

According to the indictment, Geraci submitted claims for Medicaid payment that involved diagnostic testing not performed by a physician or licensed audiologist when the rules of Medicaid required it between Dec. 2, 2008, and Dec. 24, 2011. It also alleges he concealed that information from Medicaid.

The indictment alleges he defrauded Medicaid between $20,000 and $100,000.
