LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Nimble and athletic, almost like an outfielder; Dodger's name suits him perfectly.
"Dodger is a 4-year-old Jack Russell terrier," explained Mike Stephens, the executive director at the Winnie Berry Humane Society. "He has been here for about a month.
Despite his small stature, he has a huge personality and an incredible amount of energy.
"Dodger is very active, and he likes to play," Stephens said. "He likes to run and wants to get out with the other dogs and see if he can get them to chase him around."
Jack Russell terriers are known to be an intelligent breed, so this little guy would be very easy to train.
"You see a lot of them that will do tricks and you'll see them on movies and television," Stephens said. "So if you have some time and some patients, you might be able to teach Dodger some new tricks."
Although Dodger is very active, he's also very affectionate and loves to be held. He would fit in perfectly with a family with children.
Dodger would do well with a big backyard or someone who makes frequent trips to the park, and of course, one that has time to spend with this handsome, active guy.
"He needs to get some attention and be with someone who will spend a lot of time with him," Stephens said.
Dodger's adoption fee is $80, which includes immunization and neutering fees.
A family that already has dogs can bring them to the Winnie Berry Shelter to set up a play date with Dodger.
