NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A chance encounter has brought a Nacogdoches woman missing for nearly a month back home.
Eva Villalobos, of Nacogdoches, said her family was on a trip to San Antonio on Saturday when they saw Noemi Saenz at a bus stop.
"My family and I came across her sitting at a bus stop in San Antonio during our family trip to San Antonio," said Eva Villalobos, a Nacogdoches resident.
"We were extremely happy to know that she was located and she was safe," said Chief Deputy Stephen Godfrey, of the Nacogdoches Sheriff's Office.
On March 31, KTRE reported that the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office was seeking the public's help in finding Saenz, who was reported missing on March 21.
The investigation revealed that Saenz bought a bus ticket to Del Rio on March 10. NCSO investigators had identified the person in Del Rio she may have gone to visit. However, Saenz had not been seen or heard from since March 10.
"The Sheriff Office is concerned for Noemi Saenz welfare due to her mental capabilities and her medical condition," the original press release stated.
"She was possibly getting into diabetic distress, and we were lucky she was found when she was," Godfrey said.
"We contacted the family and law, and she has now been reunited with her family," Villalobos said. She said her family was honored to be able to help reunite Saenz with her family.
"I think it shows that social media used in the proper way and cooperation with Bexar County became a true success story on location," Godfrey said.
