CENTER, TX (KTRE) - A former Center ISD teacher is expected to plead guilty to charges in connection of a sexual relationship with a student.
Jennifer Rhodes Cassell, 33, of Timpson, had a jury selection set for Monday. But prosecuting attorney Stephen Shires said it was canceled after Cassell made her intentions known to plead guilty.
Shires said Cassell will enter the plea on Wednesday and no plea bargain has been reached. Instead, Cassell's punishment will be determined by a district judge at a later date.
Center police arrested Cassell in August following an investigation into an alleged sexual relationship with a student.
An arrest affidavit states a school employee saw a male student's vehicle outside Cassell's apartment and the student admitted to having a relationship with Cassell.
