LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The 53rd annual Angelina Benefit Rodeo began on Wednesday at the George H. Henderson Expo Center in Lufkin with KTRE Night.
KTRE's Chief Meteorologist Brad Hlozek kicked off the event by introducing Mr. Rodeo Mike Mathis with a rowdy introduction.
The rodeo will continue through Saturday night. The doors open at 6 p.m. and rodeo action begins at 7 p.m.
"Come on out, you'll be able to see a bunch of new acts we're all audience participation acts this year," said Robbie Hodges, the rodeo barrel man.
The night start with the muttin bustin at 7:30 p.m. followed by steer wrestling at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m. the barrel race happens. The final act -- the bull riding -- begins at 9:30 p.m.
Tickets at the door is $8 for general admission and $12 for reserved seating.
