LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An Alto man is dead following a one-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Lufkin.

According to Lufkin Police, James Michael Landrum, 73, was traveling northbound on Loop 287 around 6:15 p.m. through a construction zone on a three-wheel motorcycle.

Landrum then hit a curb near Spence Street causing the motorcycle to roll on impact, police said. He was taken from the scene to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial in Lufkin where he was later pronounced dead. Police say Landrum was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

According to the daily media report, a gun was also found on-scene, but authorities believe it to be unrelated to the wreck.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lufkin Police Department.
