LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office unveiled their 'Safe Exchange Zone' early Monday afternoon.
The exchange zone features three designated parking spots which sit right out front of the Angelina County Jail. It's open to anyone looking for a safe place to complete legal negotiations, such as sales transactions for online purchases or child custody exchanges.
"If somebody meets somebody and they're trying to make a business transaction and they say 'No, I don't want to meet you there' then that should tell you you're dealing with the wrong person, but a good person will say 'Yes, I'll meet you there'", said Sheriff Greg Sanches, Angelina County.
It's also important to note, that safe zone is monitored by two cameras. The cameras were donated to the county by B&D Security Services in Lufkin.
The decision for the zone comes after widespread approval from Angelina County residents.
