NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Residents that wait every year for "Drug Take Back Day" in Nacogdoches as a way to properly dispose of their medication will not have to wait for the annual drop off dates anymore.
There is now a permanent MedReturn box located in the lobby of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department. It will be available 24/7, all year long. CVS Pharmacy granted the application. Sheriff Jason Bridges says there's no reason to wait for a special day to dispose of your medications properly.
"You get medication and you quit taking it and you have several pills left over, so just bring that on in to us and get rid of it and that limits the chances of kids getting hold of it or getting back out into the public," Bridges said.
On Saturday, ADAC and the Nacogdoches Police will be collecting unused medications from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the University Mall. Similar collections will happen in communities statewide.
