SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Shelby County grand jury indicted 21-year-old Joaquin man on a third-degree felony charge in connection to allegations that he created a fictional social media account where he posed as a woman and contacted underage children in an attempt to get inappropriate photos from them.
The grand jury met on Monday, and they indicted Dakota Smith on a third-degree felony sexual performance of a child charge. His bail amount was set at $100,000.
According to the affidavit, Smith pretended to be a young woman and asked an underage boy to send him inappropriate photos on Nov. 10, 2015.
Smith was first arrested on the charge on Dec. 5, 2015. He was released later that day after he posted a bail amount of $10,000.
