LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man accepted a plea deal of 20 days in the county jail and 3 years probation for stealing an air conditioner unit from his boss and using company credit cards for personal use.
Florentine Flores III, 41, appeared in Judge Bob Inselmann's 217th Judicial District Court Thursday for a plea hearing. As part of the plea deal, he pleaded guilty to two state-jail felony theft between $1,500 and $20,000 charges and a state-jail felony credit card or debit card abuse charge.
As part of the agreement, Flores will be required to spend 20 days in the county jail and serve 3 years of probation. He will also have to pay restitution to the victims, a $300 fine and do 80 hours of community service.
According to an arrest affidavit, Flores took an air-conditioning unit from Deep East Texas Heating and Air, who he worked for, and installed it at someone's home and took all the money for it.
This was discovered after the customer contacted the business and asked about having the work completed. The company then contacted police because they had not authorized for that work to be done.
Once Flores was fired, his supervisor cleaned out his work vehicle and found a credit card inside it. It was then he learned Flores had charged a total of $938.67 on a card he was not even authorized to use.
In addition to taking the AC unit, the affidavit states Flores took $1,300 in cash from the customer.
