LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An Angelina County grand jury has issued a no-bill for a Huntington man involved in a two-vehicle wreck which claimed the life of a Huntington man in October.

Steven Edwin Phillips, 62, was arrested on a charge of criminally negligent homicide in January. The no-bill means the grand jury chose not to indict Phillps and the charge is dropped.

Phillips was driving a 2001 Chevy pickup west on FM 328 and delivering newspapers and had pulled over to the eastbound shoulder to make a delivery when a 2010 Harley Davidson, driven by William Eugene Bertram, 41, struck the front of Phillips' pickup.

Bertram died on the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

Phillips had been out of jail on a $3,500 bail.
