Educational Program A Success

by Jessica Cervantez

More than 17,000 students from all over Angelina County are getting excited bout learning and reading. The students are part of the Kurth Memorial Library educational program.

With the help of a $3,000 grant, coordinators are bringing in national artists like Joe McDermott to teach the kids valuable lessons.

Karen Howell, the educational program coordinator, said, "The goal is to bring students to the library. Introduce them to the world of books, encourage early reading, and encourage a love of reading."

McDermott performed for the students and organizers say he was a big hit with the kids.
