NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

There's a certain curiosity about downtown lofts.

As a result, Saturday's Second Story Tour in Nacogdoches is sold out.

Nacogdoches' newest downtown renovation is the home of Jana and Gary LaFour. From her window on a Main Street corner, Jana keeps watch over Nacogdoches.

"I love the view of the city,” Jana said. “Best in Nacogdoches."

The view inside the spacious loft is just as grand.

"We really love this old building,” Jana said. “We love the way it's been restored and we want everybody else to see the possibilities."

Martin Construction gutted and renovated the loft, working hand in hand with interior designer Jaime Carrillo.

"That are both young Nacogdoches people and to see the up and coming talent that we've got in this town is really exciting,” Jana said.

Carrillo introduced her traditionalist client to a contemporary look that maintains respect for the loft's original look.

"I think it's important for an older building to keep the integrity of the building,” said Jaime Carrillo, an interior designer with JC Design Works.

Exposed brick walls transition with new elements.

"There's something new around each and every corner,” Carrillo said.

The kitchen's countertops create just the look needed in an open design.

"It just gives it that clean, contemporary, sleek look,” Carrillo said.

At the loft's far end a Tuscany look shows up at an earthy bar. Original doors pop with frosted glass and new hardware.

"To tie the old feeling of the building with the contemporary new look,” Carrillo said.

Behind every door there's a surprise.

"You have a little bit of Hollywood glamour Carrillo said.

There's bling in a powder room, but it can't compare to the master bath.

"Everybody goes, Oh my gosh. I want one of these in my house,” Carrillo said.

A wall fireplace over the tub and a spa shower set in natural stone set a relaxed mood. The LaFours open their home to provide inspiration for any size project that helps preserve Nacogdoches.

"To see how we can enjoy the historic aspects of Nacogdoches, but set something very modern and up to date in the same context and the two can really co-exist,” Jana said.

The Second Story Tour may be back by popular demand. There's already talk of its return as early as this fall.
