LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Mother's day is Sunday and some last minute shoppers are were still trying to figure out what to get mom hours before the big day.
"We've had a few last minute shoppers," owner of Sew Junkies, Tammy Ellison said.
"I've been out shopping for a last minute mother's day gift," Stevie Dalton, a shopper said.
There were countless East Texans out looking for last minute mother's day gifts on Saturday. With last minute shopping, comes frustration.
"I came down here looking for Kendra Scott earrings, because those are really popular and they're simple," Olivia Buford, a shopper said. "You can dress them up, or dress them down."
"We can't find anything that we're looking for," Morgan Downing, a mother shopping said.
So when the going gets tough, it's time to get creative.
"Doing things last minute you do have to do creative things," Buford said.
Especially when traditional gifts like flowers and jewelry sometimes just won't do.
"My mom is kind of hard to buy for so I'm looking for something I can get monogrammed or custom," Dalton said. "I want to get something different."
"I do digital prints, and you can do it however you want," Ellison said. "It can say whatever you want. It doesn't have to say mom, it can say grandma, or even nana. We like to give everybody a little something special."
Here's a suggestion, if money is tight then you might want to make her something even more original.
"I've made my mom, my step mom, and mother-in-law little arts and craft things," Downing said.
It never hurts to get a gift that can keep on giving.
"Usually I get jewelry for her," Dalton said. "Something I'll end up borrowing and using for myself."
If couldn't shop on Saturday, some restaurants in East Texas will be open on Mother's day so you can take your special lady out to eat.
